AI Citability
AI citability is the ability of a piece of content to be extracted, reused and cited as a source by generative answer engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews or Gemini. Unlike traditional search optimization, which aims for a ranking position in a list of links, AI citability measures the probability that a specific passage will be selected by a large language model to build and support its answer. It relies on self-contained, factual passages, a clear question-and-answer structure, verifiable data, recognized topical authority and semantic markup that AI crawlers can parse.
